Have just come out of a meeting of the recently formed Great Yarmouth Civic Trust whose aims are to improve the experience of the Town for residents and visitors alike. Central to any improvement, is a serious upgrade of the service from Yarmouth to Norwich. Is there any way we can work together.
Reply: Hi Michael I am pretty sure that we can find ground that means we could work together. we are meeting with Greater Anglia on 23rd March and we hope to confirm with them that we are looking at half hourly train service as from sometime 2019/2020. In the meantime if you want to set up a meet or just to chat please call me on 078908467787 after 12 noon Mon to Fri and we can see what can be done. Mean while I will sedn you c copy of our latest newsletter. Regards Steve Hewitt

Maybe worth looking at the X1 again when the road alterations are finished and there is right turns out of the Asda and the Station. I don't see rail loosing any passengers as the bus runs to the Bus Station on the other side of the city to Rail Station
Reply: We are going to raise the possibility of this happening when we meet with First in early February

To Steve Hewitt Reading your letter in the Mercury re bus service to Rail Station perhaps the X1 could take it in on its service I would like to suggest a bus lane on Southtown Road in to Gt Yarmouth as the cycle lane could be shared
Reply: Hi Malcolm ENTUA has looked at all possibilities re serving the railway station including the diversion of the X1, however it seems First are reluctant to do this and if the X1 did serve the station maybe the current poor rail service would be reduce further, particularly at weekends and in the evenings. Re Southtown Road that is what we have called for over the years but it would need to be strictly enforced as we all know that motorists would still use it regardless and access would have to be maintained for those whose properties that front Southtown Road. We are in regular contact with the County Council and this will raised agaon with them. Regards Steve

Have just received the Village Voice and read your column about the reviewing of the bus subsidies. I have been unable to find the consultation on the web and it is now too late to ring. Not only would the 7 withdrawal affect leisure activities but also people who have to work late. It's appalling.
Reply: As a body ENTUA has made its views known to the County Council by letter and by online submission and also we will be meeting with First in early February and will ask them their intentions toward any subsidised part of the service 7, should it be at risk at that time. Regards Steve Hewitt

What have happened to the new buses from the north that was. Spoken about at the Gorleston meeting
Reply: Hi Phillip as with everything with First companies who want the cascaded vehicles have to bid for them to get them for their location. We are still being told that a large number of "Gemini" double deckers are still awaiting transfer to other parts of the UK following the cessation of First services in Scotland East but I am afraid that is as far as it has got to! The TV coverage on Monday evening was quite well presented but from experience those in areas likely to be effected need to get their County Councillors to ride the buses as most I have found never use buses at all otherwise they will just rubber stamp officer recommendations
Reply: I could not agree more Peter.I think that anyone who decides the future of something that affects s big majority should be forced to see what those who are losing out have to put up with! However I am afraid that will never happen! I always remember the instance of Michael Portillo trying to live on Job Seekers allowance a few years ago. A complete failure and a very poor publicity stunt! Steve

Eastern Daily Press are running with the suggested Bus Subsidy cuts unfortunately most of the public comments (mostly from non - bus users)We need to set to and counteract this and also respond the the Public Consultation
http://www.edp24.co. uk/news/politics/fea rs-cuts-to-norfolk-b us-subsidies-could-l ea Reply: Hi Peter I have already responded representing ENTUA and also another of our committee members Chris Palmer who lives at Stokesby will also respond with the views of someone who lives in the country with about 2 buses per day. I am fortunate enough to live in Great Yarmouth, but even I would be affected if I want to do any visiting in an evening or Sunday as some town buses are also on the list for review.WE have our next committee meeting on December 5th when this consultation will be discussed. Regards Steve
